Simusim at home, with a family account

Your child's school isn't on Simusim yet? You don't have to wait. A family account lets you add your children, give them their own learning logins, and buy the learning apps directly — one-time or as a termly subscription.

§ 01School accounts vs family accounts

If your child's school uses Simusim, the school creates everything — you only need the Parent Portal. A family account is the self-serve path: you create it yourself at family.simusim.com, you add the children, and you choose which learning apps to pay for. Your children get the same learning apps schools use — Simu Primary, Simu JHS, Simu Lab, vMaths, and Stories. (Arena, the competition app, is school-only and isn't sold to families.)

§ 02Creating your account

  1. Go to family.simusim.com and choose Create family account.
  2. Fill in your own (the parent's) details — Given name, Family name, Email, and Phone. As the form says: “Use parent details. Child accounts are added after the family account is ready.”
  3. Press Create account. You'll see: “Account request received. Check the parent email to finish setup.”
  4. Open the email and follow the link to the “Set your password” page. Choose a password (at least 8 characters), type it twice, press Set password.
  5. Press Go to sign in and sign in with your email and new password. You land on your family dashboard.

Forgot your password later? Forgot your password? on the sign-in page emails you a reset link.

§ 03Adding children

  1. On the dashboard, press Add child.
  2. Enter the child's Given name and Family name, and press Create child.
  3. A success card shows the child's Student code and PIN — their sign-in details. Save them now (print the login card, next step); the PIN isn't shown again later.
  4. Press Login card to open a printable card with the code and PIN, then Print this card.
Forgotten PIN? On the child's Login card page, press Reset & show PIN (it reads Reset PIN again once a PIN is already showing). A fresh PIN is generated and shown (the old one stops working) — as the page explains, PINs aren't stored in a readable form, so a reset is how you “recover” one.

§ 04How your child signs in

Exactly like a school student: with their student code + PIN at the sign-in address printed on their login card. Once an app is purchased or subscribed for them, it appears among their apps — Simu Primary, Simu JHS, Simu Lab, vMaths, or Stories, depending on the product you chose. The dashboard lists each child's active apps; “No active app access” means nothing is bought for them yet.

§ 05Buying app access (one-time)

  1. From the dashboard, press Buy access on the child's card (or the general Purchase history → start a purchase).
  2. Confirm the child, then pick a product — each card shows the name, the price (e.g. “GH₵250.00 / year” for a single app, “GH₵200.00 / year” for Stories, or “GH₵750.00 / year” for the All-Access bundle), and which apps it unlocks (e.g. “Apps: simu”, or all five for All-Access). It's a one-off payment that unlocks the app for a year — nothing renews automatically.
  3. Press Continue to payment. Payment opens in Paystack — pay by card or Mobile Money.
  4. When the payment confirms, the apps activate for that child automatically. You can check the state any time under Purchase history.

§ 06Termly subscriptions

Subscriptions renew each term so access never lapses mid-learning. As the page puts it: “Card subscriptions renew automatically; Mobile Money subscriptions get a reminder with a one-tap renew link before they lapse.”

  1. Press Subscribe (on the dashboard or a child's card).
  2. Confirm the child, then choose a plan — name, price per term (e.g. “GH₵100.00 per term” for a single app, “GH₵80.00 per term” for Stories, or “GH₵300.00 per term” for the All-Access bundle), and the apps included.
  3. Press Continue to payment and pay in Paystack.
  4. If you paid by card: renewal is automatic each term. If you paid by Mobile Money: before the term ends you'll get an email reminder with a one-tap link — tap, approve the MoMo charge, done.

The Subscriptions page lists each subscription with its state — Active, Pending payment, Payment needed, Cancels at period end, or Expired — the renewal date, and the payment method (e.g. “Card •••• 4242” or “Mobile Money”). Press Manage on one to update the card, retry a payment, or cancel; cancelling keeps access until the period ends.

Price promise Plan price changes never hit existing subscribers — you keep the price you signed up at for as long as the subscription runs.

§ 07Purchase history

Purchase history lists every purchase on the account — product, which child, date, amount, and state: Pending payment, Active, Failed, Refunded, or Revoked, plus “Access ends …” for time-boxed access. View detail opens the full record. A payment stuck on “Pending payment”? Reopen it — the page re-checks with Paystack; if it failed you can start again.

§ 08Ask your school

Want your child's whole school on Simusim — attendance, report cards, fees, the lot? Press Ask your school → on your dashboard:

  1. Fill in the school's name (and region, if you know it).
  2. Check your contact details (pre-filled from your account).
  3. Optionally add your child's class and a message, then press Ask my school.

That's it — “We've noted your interest … and will reach out to them about adopting SimuSim.” The Simusim team contacts the school on your behalf and lets you know once they're on board. Your family account (and your child's progress) carries on regardless.
