Guide 05 · For parents & guardians

Following your child in the Parent Portal

One phone screen with everything that matters: today's attendance, this term's grades, report cards you can download, and exactly where the school fees stand — for every child you have at the school.

§ 01Signing in

  1. Go to login.simusim.com (or follow the address on the login card the school gave you), choose your child's school, and tap the Parent or Teacher door.
  2. Enter the phone number the school registered for you — local format like 0244 000 000 is fine — and your 4-digit PIN.
  3. Tap Sign in.

Forgot the PIN? Reset it yourself: on the sign-in page open the Parent or Teacher door and tap Forgot PIN? to get a 6-digit code by SMS, or ask the school office — they reset it in seconds. Changed your number? Ask the school to update it first — the portal matches the number on record.

§ 02Your home screen

You're greeted with “Akwaaba — Welcome back” and a card for each child linked to you at this school. Each card shows the child's name, class, attendance percentage, and their latest published term result. Tap a card to open that child's page.

Below the children sit a few shortcuts: Notices and Messages (§ 07), the School fees shortcut — “View invoices, payments & statement” (§ 06), a Resources shortcut to documents the school has shared (Resources guide), and an Upcoming events widget that lists the next dates on the school calendar (Events guide).

No children showing? “We can't find any children linked to your account.” means the school hasn't linked you to your child yet. Ask the school admin — it takes them under a minute (they open the student's record and add you under Linked parents).

§ 03A child's page

Each child's page stacks seven sections, with a View weekly timetable link at the top:

  • Report cards — one entry per published term, with a Download button (§ 04).
  • Grades — the term average so far; tap through for the full subject-by-subject table.
  • Attendance — percentage and days present, with a coloured strip of recent days.
  • Simu — what your child has mastered in the learning apps, and what they're currently working on.
  • VMaths — your child's progress through the visual maths lessons.
  • Stories — books finished and the Character Garden: the virtues (Honesty, Courage, Kindness…) your child's reading has grown.
  • Behaviour — any conduct notes the school has logged for your child, merits and incidents alike.

While a term is still running you'll see amber banners like “Term in progress — grades may change.” — numbers settle when the school publishes the term.

§ 04Report cards

  1. Open your child's page and find Report cards.
  2. Each published term is listed with its publish date. Tap Download.
  3. A PDF report card downloads — grades, remarks, conduct, and the head's comment — ready to save, print, or share with the family.

Nothing there yet? “No report cards have been published yet — they'll appear here after each term.” Schools publish at the end of each term.

§ 05Grades & attendance in detail

The Term grades page shows, per subject: the CA (continuous assessment) average, the Exam average, and the combined Term grade, plus the overall average for the term. These are the same numbers that flow onto the report card.

The Attendance view counts days present, late, and absent against the school's calendar. If a day looks wrong (say your child was marked absent on a day you dropped them at the gate), raise it with the class teacher — they can correct a record and the portal updates.

§ 06School fees & receipts

The School fees page lays out, per child:

  • Running balance — green when settled, red when something's outstanding.
  • Invoices — each term's bill with status: Issued, Partially paid, or Settled, and the balance remaining.
  • Payment history — every payment with date, method (Cash, Bank transfer, Mobile money, Cheque), reference, and amount — each with its own Download receipt PDF.

Need everything on one paper? Download statement (PDF) at the top produces a full statement across your children.

Paying Payments are made to the school the way the school accepts them (cash, MoMo, bank); the bursar records them and the portal updates immediately — receipt included. The portal itself is your record, not a payment button.

§ 07SMS from the school

Schools on Simusim can reach you by SMS — no app needed:

  • Announcements — school-wide or class messages, prefixed with the school's name.
  • Gate notifications — if the school runs the face check-in kiosk and has notifications on, you'll get a text when your child checks in or out.

Messages come from the school's registered sender name (or “SimuSim”). To stop receiving announcements, ask the school office to opt you out; if several guardians are linked to one child, the school chooses which number gets the messages.

SMS isn't the only channel. Inside the portal you'll also find Notices — the school's announcements, which you can read and acknowledge — and Messages, a two-way thread with the school. See the Communication guide for both.

§ 08Account — and children at two schools

The Account page shows your name, your phone (partly masked), and your linked children. “Need to update your details? Contact your school admin.”

Children at two different schools? One phone number works for both, but each school has its own portal page. Sign in via School A's page to see those children, and School B's page for the others — the sign-in page remembers your last school and lets you switch with Not this school? Change it.
